Good News: You’re Already On Trend

Got sent this cool article by an old DPMer Chris who trained with us before he and his wife Ann moved back to the States many years ago.

And he titled it ‘Hey dude, you’re gonna be trendy’ which got my curiosity. Then before the article link he mentioned

“love it how the top 2 trends are what you’ve been practicing for years.
People are finally catching on.”

Seems that he came across The Biggest Fitness Trends of 2015.

Once again that got my curiosity to see what the mainstream media was going to list.

Funny thing was as soon as I read it I couldn’t help but agree.

And just helped confirm that what he and Ann (as well as every other DPMer) had been doing for years, was in the trends list and finally ‘cool’.

There was no Crossfit in the top 5.

There was no TRX stuff in the top 5.

There was no ropes stuff in the top 5.

Or whatever fad that people want to jump on at the moment.

Don’t get me wrong, functional training does have its place for the right person

(it was number 9 on the list after all)

BUT

The majority of the population that most trainers work with are professionals who need a bit more thought placed behind their workouts rather than just do what the sports people do cause it looks cool.

So what was on the list?

Just the tried and true but highly effective following:

1) Bodyweight Training

2) High intensity interval training

Now this wasn’t some Mickey Mouse company that put out these trends.

It was the American College of Sports Medicine. So as you can imagine they’re a bit of a big deal.

You might also be pleased to know that number 3 on the list was Educated, Certified and Experienced Fitness Professionals.

Which is a biggie.

See, pretty much anyone with a wallet full of coin can go and do a PT certification in as little as a few weeks.

Yep, that’s actually disturbing.

You’ve probably heard all the ads on the radio from ‘celebrity trainers’.

All that does is create a whole bunch of people without any real knowledge of the human body or experience in what works and let them loose on the world to do their damage.

No wonder physios rub their hands with glee at this.

But when you put your faith in someone with a Health Science or Sports Science degree, but more importantly, someone who’s been around for the last 15 years (and running DPM for coming up on 10 years in October) you know you’re in the right hands.

I don’t tell you this to big note myself.

I couldn’t really care what the majority do.

But I want you to know that you’re in safe hands.

And on the right track.

So now you know why you do what you do – and have been doing for years!

Thanks Chris for sending that through.

Cheers

Daniel
