How Often?

Big question that I’m always asked is how often do you train?

See, some people might have the impression that I train everyday and love it.

And that you should too.


Some others have the idea that all I do is stand around and tell others what to do.

Not that either.

Just sometimes…

See, the truth is I used to train every day – well 6 days a week.

And twice a day at that.

Guess I was a bit obsessed.

That was back in the day.

In my 20’s with all the time in the world on my hands.

Was single, no kids and obviously not much of a life either to be able to do that.

Nowdays, like you, I’ve got a ton of other things I’d rather be doing than exercising.

Plus paying for the all the old injuries I used to ignore and not rehab properly.

To be honest, I’d rather be spending time with the fam.

Or sitting on the lounge watching footy or basketball.

So how often do you train each week?

Are you worried that it isn’t enough?

Now it’s time to answer the question for me.

Most weeks, I train 3 days a week.

And the Sunday session is only 15 minutes or so.

Not like the Sunday sessions I used to do – a couple of hours on the bike followed by a session of its own at the pub.

I’d rather spend the day with the fam.

Not training like a madman.

The other 2 sessions are 30-40 mins tops.

Surprise you?

Or make you feel more comfortable maybe about your training total?

I hope so.

You see, I’ve come to realise that you don’t have to train every day to get anywhere.

You don’t have to commit hours each week.

???????Especially when you follow what works,

???????just like in our DPM sessions.


I take the same approach cause I know it’s not the favourite thing you’d rather be doing each week.

My training total is no more than 90 mins a week.

Sure, I get in incidental exercise like walking here and there a few days a week.

That’s an added bonus and I encourage you to do the same.

?Clears the head as well as being good for the body.

But the days of training for hours and hours just to get any results are long gone.

The beauty of less time to train just means when you do it = you do it properly.

Just like anything.

Human nature leads us to getting more done if we have a short deadline to do something.

Probably explains why you’re busy compared to the muppet who sits next to you who seems to do nothing all day except surf google.

Just like exercise.

It means we’ve gotta train efficiently and only do exercises that are going to give us the biggest bang for our buck.

I encourage you to do the same.
