Weird, But Could Work

Are you familiar with the BMI?

You know,the body mass index?

Which a lot of people who supposedly know what their talking about reckon is the be-all-end-all way to measure whether someone is of a healthy weight or overweight.

It’s ratio calculated between your height and your weight and divided by the average number of tools in a Sydchrome tool kit…

(12th Man joke if you remember his pearlers from back in the day!)

If you haven’t heard of it it’s a good thing so don’t go losing any sleep.

Personally, I think it’s a crock.

You see, anyone who has a high level of muscle mass is considered overweight.

That’s why I’ve always discounted it.

But I came across an article that just might have a solution to determining whether the average Jane – or Joe – is at risk for obesity related conditions like diabetes and heart disease.

And although it sounds weird – and a tad simple – it could just work in my book.

UK research has shown that a simple piece of string could be used to determine your risk of those diseases.

All you have to do is measure your height.

And if you can fold that string measurement of your height in half and fit it comfortably around your waist then your sweet.

“We would like to show that waist to height is not only superior to BMI in first stage screening for the health risks of obesity but is also more efficient in practice and can be done by personnel with minimal training and resources”

I like it.

What about you?

Cheers,

Daniel
